KENYA BIG FIVE SAFARI ITINERARY

  • DAY 1: Arrival in Nairobi / Airport to City Transfer

    Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), formerly known as Nairobi International Airport and located approximately 15 km southwest of Nairobi, you will be warmly welcomed by our Kenya Predators Safari airport representative. Our representative will be waiting just outside the customs hall at the designated pickup area, holding a sign with your name for easy identification. A complimentary private airport transfer is provided for all travellers. You will be driven comfortably from Nairobi Airport to Nairobi city, a journey of approximately 45 minutes. Your accommodation is conveniently located on the outskirts of the city centre.

  • DAY 2: Nairobi / Ol Pejeta Conservancy

    Embark on an unforgettable multi-day safari from Nairobi to the world-renowned Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Your journey begins with a scenic drive north from Nairobi into the breathtaking landscapes of Laikipia County, skirting the dramatic foothills of the Aberdare Range and the legendary peaks of Mount Kenya. Set off on a 3–4 hour road trip from Nairobi to Nanyuki, following a route that reveals sweeping farmland vistas, rolling valleys, and ever-present views of Mount Kenya’s striking profile. Midway, you’ll stop at the Equator line, where you can capture memorable photos at the iconic marker and enjoy fun, hands-on demonstrations of the Coriolis effect—a light-hearted moment that brings geography to life. Arrive at Ol Pejeta in time for lunch and check-in at your safari tented lodge, where a freshly prepared hot meal awaits. After some time to relax, head out on an afternoon game drive across the conservancy’s diverse plains. Track the Big Five, encounter endangered Black rhinos, and visit the famed Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a haven for rescued chimpanzees. As the sun begins to set, return to camp for dinner under the stars and a cozy night in the wild—an enchanting end to your first day on safari.

  • DAY 3: Ol Pejeta Conservance / Samburu National Reserve

    DAY 3:

    After an early breakfast, check out from your lodge and embark on the scenic journey north to Samburu National Reserve. The drive from Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Samburu is one of Northern Kenya’s most picturesque safari routes and is best enjoyed in a 4x4 vehicle. Ol Pejeta is renowned for its Big Five and world-class rhino conservation programs, while Samburu is famous for its “Special Five” species: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Along the way, you will witness a striking transformation in landscape and wildlife, moving from lush highlands to the semi-arid beauty of northern Kenya. Upon arrival at Samburu National Reserve, where we will spend 2 nights, check in at your safari lodge, ideally located in the heart of the reserve, and take some time to relax before lunch. Afternoon Game Drive: From 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, set out for your first game drive in Samburu, exploring its unique wildlife and breathtaking scenery. 

    Afterward, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Samburu Simba Lodge

  • DAY 4: Samburu National Reserve

    After breakfast, embark on a full day of adventure with morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu National Reserve, one of the most stunning parks in Kenya’s Northern Circuit. The reserve is home to some of the region’s most unique and indigenous wildlife, including the endangered African Wild Dog and the Pancake Tortoise. The rest of the day is at your leisure. You may choose to relax by the pool or opt for additional activities such as a nature walk, a cultural visit in the surrounding area, or a rejuvenating spa treatment at your safari lodge. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Samburu Simba Lodge.

  • DAY 5: Samburu National Reserve / Aberdare National Park

    ABERDARE NATIONAL PARK

    After an early breakfast, check out from your lodge and embark on a scenic drive to Aberdare National Park. Renowned for its lush forests, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife, the Aberdares offer a unique and picturesque safari experience. The area also holds historical significance, as it was near here that Elizabeth II became Queen in 1952 following the death of her father, King George VI. The drive from Samburu National Reserve to Aberdare National Park covers approximately 385 Km and takes around 6 hours. Upon arrival, enjoy a leisurely lunch at the Aberdare Country Club, after which you will be transferred to The Ark Lodge—a one-of-a-kind accommodation perched above a waterhole. From your balcony, you can watch elephants, buffaloes, and other wildlife as they come to drink, offering an unforgettable safari experience right at your doorstep.

  • DAY 6: Aberdare National Park / Lake Nakuru National Park

    LAKE NAKURU NP – LAKE NAIVASHA

    After breakfast, check out of your lodge and depart Aberdare for Lake Nakuru National Park. Enjoy a scenic drive of approximately 135 km, which takes about 3–4 hours. Upon arrival, explore the park, world-famous for its stunning flocks of lesser flamingos that turn the shores pink, as well as its diverse birdlife. Embark on a game drive en route to your lodge, spotting wildlife along the way. After reaching your lodge, enjoy lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, head out for another game drive around the lake, keeping an eye out for the Big Five—leopards, rhinos, lions, elephants, and buffalo. 

    At around 06:30pm return to the lodge by sunset for dinner and overnight stay at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge or Lake Nakuru Lodge. Meals:- Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.


  • DAY 7: Lake Nakuru National Park / Masai Mara National Reserve

    Enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge before checking out. We will depart with a packed lunch for the journey from Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve. Sit back and relax as you travel through the scenic landscapes, transitioning from the lush Rift Valley to the iconic Mara plains—a route favoured by safari-goers. The drive covers approximately 220–240 km and typically takes 5–6 hours by road. Most safari guides prefer the route via Narok, which allows for short stops and refreshments along the way. By midday, we will enter Masai Mara, where you will spend 2 nights. The reserve is renowned for its diverse wildlife, including the Big Five, rare species, and the spectacular annual Great Migration. Enjoy an afternoon game drive.

  • DAY 8: Masai Mara National Reserve

    Enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge, spend a full day on an unforgettable adventure exploring the Masai Mara. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives that take you across different areas of the reserve, guided by expert game trackers who know exactly where the best wildlife encounters await. Depending on the day, you may rise early to witness the dramatic sunrise over the savannah, followed by a leisurely late breakfast. The Masai Mara, the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem, is a land where the plains virtually pulse with life. The reserve is famed for its extraordinary concentration of grazing and browsing animals, as well as its apex Predators, including the iconic Big Five.

  • DAY 9: Depart Masai Mara – Nairobi (Drive)

    After an early morning breakfast and check-out from your lodge, you will have the option to visit a traditional Maasai Manyatta for an immersive cultural experience. This visit includes a USD $50 per-person contribution that directly supports the Maasai community. Afterwards, begin your drive from the Maasai Mara to Nairobi—a journey of approximately 270–280 km that typically takes 5–6 hours. The route passes through Narok town and offers breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley, making it a scenic and enjoyable trip. If you prefer to fly, morning flight options are available at an additional cost, with fares (including private airport transfers) starting from USD $410.00 per person one-way for departures before 10:00 a.m. 

    You can depart the Maasai Mara from Ol Kiombo Airstrip on a scheduled one-hour flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. Upon arrival, our representative will meet you and ensure a seamless transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward journey. Meals:- Breakfast, Picnic Lunch.
